New comp and a butterfly card

Must be time for another update.

A new comp, The Pen, has now started at Chook Scraps and is based on 'The Block'.  Our first 'reno' job is in the entrance and thankfully it's not to big a challenge with which to start. 

I've not been very productive lately but my card made for the April cybercrop was based on the sketch challenge clean&simple stamping 186

 

I seem to be really drawn to cards that feature butterflies lately and have pinned several to my Pinterest page!

... and now it's April!

The Chook Scraps retreat and the month of March have been and gone already, and so has Easter!  How can that be?  Oh and after all this time I finally have the permanent crown fitted to my implant!

 This next card was one I cased from a card I saw on Pinterest and followed the links to Kittie Kraft so I could work how she made the 'wooden panel'.

I found this gorgeous card while blog hopping today and decided I needed to make a version as well.

This first layout was for Chooks Continuous Challenge and features our new pastor, Tim and his wife Claire who took us to Bodiam Castle when we met while in England last October.  They have now arrived in Perth with their gorgeous little girl and are settling into the church family very well.

This one was started at retreat and finished with some extra photos once I was home again.

March already!!

After deciding to step down from leading craft at church I needed something else to do and so I sent off the volunteer form to 98.5 Sonshine fm and was invited in for an 'interview'.  I have now been there for the last 2 Wednesday mornings, 'manning' the reception desk, answering the phone and making phone calls to some of the supporters.  My main problem is getting my tongue around some of my words!  Obviously I've been out of practice!

I have still been making cards and have done a couple of layouts.

These next few are for the Chooks Christmas Card Challenge 2012 which is designed to give us a good supply of cards by the end of the year.  It also helps to use up a few of the scraps most of us paper crafters have!

I hope everyone has had a safe and peaceful Christmas.

We had the family here for a bbq breakfast and presents before some of them had to dash off to lunch at the in-laws.  Cameron hates having his photo taken so I gave him the camera and him to take photos instead!  I think he was trying to annoy me by taking photos of everyone's feet but I knew they would be perfect for the jillibean soup sketch contest which features a PageMaps sketch.

Long time no post!

I have been making a few Christmas cards while Leila does 'bluing' (gluing) and Zac is asleep when I have been babysitting on Mondays. 

A lot of them have been given to the ladies who have been attending the craft group at church. I made the decision not to continue leading the group next year and most people have been very understanding and positive about since we are encouraging those who would still like to meet at the church to go on Wednesdays when the Mid-Week Escape group meets.

The latest cards I made were so much fun I made 4 and might make more yet!  The idea came from a scrapbooking layout I found here.

Implant

When telling a few people I was having in an implant I had a few odd looks until I explained it was a dental one!  After a false start on the 10th I actually had it done a week later on  the Sat morning. 

Instead of having a general anaesthetic it is done in the chair under oral sedation.  I was sent 4 tablets to take 90 minutes before my appointment, which I did, but I hadn't had lunch and so had some of the pumpkin soup I'd been making at the same time.  When Erica came to take me I remember her sitting down to have some and she and Ainsley accused me of being off my face so told them to get my camera.  I don't remember much after that until later that evening when I woke up realising I was wearing different clothes and my mouth not feeling any different.  It turns out I was sick shortly after leaving home so Erica brought me home and rang the surgery before she and Ainsley got me changed and put me to bed.  I do remember hearing Niel drive in and thought he must have changed his mind about staying in Trayning for the weekend but the girls had been worried about me and phoned him.

When an unknown phone number come up on a missed call on my mobile and then the home phone rang I thought it might have been the dentist ringing to see how I was feeling and yes it was.  He organised the receptionist to ring me on Monday and suggest trying again on the Saturday morning but I'd take the tablets once I was there at 8am. 

He gave me 2 to start with and another 1 once I was in the chair.  I remember the needles and some of the scraping and drilling but decided I would just treat it like it was just another filling and that I could pray for people in a worse situation than me.  Apparently I told Niel about it on the way home but of course have no memory of that.  I do remember feeling the thread as he was putting in the stitches and opening my eyes a couple of times on the way home but not a lot else until about 3:30pm.

I had a very swollen upper lip area and was advised by Ainsley that I shouldn't go to church the next day!  I have had some bruising which has caused some discussion but thankfully the pain hasn't been too bad, even when I've forgotten to take any of pain relief tablets he prescribed.  I've only had 1 today so am just about back to 'normal'.
